Farming at Lahtela has continued since the 1900s through several generations. The property was transferred from the old hosts Seppo and Leila to Juha in 1992 through a generational change. The family includes wife Päivi and children Jaakko, Emma and Aapo. Additionally, the Karelian Bear Dog Sylvi and Finnish Spitz Helka currently bring joy to the family and visitors in the yard. Cattle farming ended in 1982, which freed up time for entrepreneurs to pursue other business opportunities and develop the farm functions. In the 2020s, the estate operates as a multi-functional farm supported by agriculture, forestry, cottage rentals, and machine contracting.
Lahtela farm has been accommodating travelers since 2000. Currently, there are three holiday cottages for rent: Vanamo, Kanerva, and Aurinkokumpu.
